Which clutch for my setup?
Posted my problem in this section but no one replied so instead of shooting the bushes for my clutch problem ill jus replace it.

and do I really need to replace my flywheel, only got 9k miles on car. Dont have to changed my M.C and slave cause I have a 2002 z (correct me if im wrong)
I checked out thunder racing and there spec 3 was 20 dollahs more than speed inc., whats the differance? and who should i purchase it from, live in hawaii so shipping will cause me an arm and a leg.
since im getting my clutch also want line lock @ the same time, I know tr has the best one right now, any other opinions? thanks in advanced guys

Re: Which clutch for my setup?
I heard the ram clutch must install it with flywheel and the SPEC not, may for stage 1 only or both, i mean stage 1 and stage 2 but stage 3 must. the best price you'll find it for SPEC clutch from Nasty performance or may jegs i think!! ask it on the email www.nastyperformance.com
I prefer for your setup SPEC stage 2 and you'll be fine at the future for new setup.
RAM clutch is very nice and SPEC is very nice too also you can check the link of the users SPEC clutch or search for more info
SPEC users
Good luck!

Re: Which clutch for my setup?
Hey man
I have a spec stage 3 in my car it is great. The only problem I have is getting traction. Had it for 3000 miles. I use my car for work too and race it 6-8 times a month. I did replace my flywheel with a stock gm flywheel. That was my decision. You can resurface the flywheel and it will be fine.

Re: Which clutch for my setup?
SPEC has crappy customer service. Supposedly they changed their design. I have an older design in my WS6(Spec Stage 3 carbon)and it's alright but my RAM in my SS is much better. Maybe the new design is better the the previous one. I had a SPEC stage 3 carbon in my SS before the RAM and the clutch disk broke. The rivets in the center section of the clutch disk gave out the the disk came apart. This happen with 800 miles on the clutch, just after break-in. Most clutch installers and makers recommend 200-300 miles of city driving(stop-n-go)for break-in. I go overboard on my break-ins for my clutches. I put at least 600 miles on. I actually had just over 800 miles on the SPEC stage 3 carbon break=in. I was on an entrance ramp to the freeway. I decided to jump on it at 20mph in 1st...on my way going good! Slam 4th gear and CRACK BANG GRRRRG......no good! CLUNK CLUNK TICK TICK...I push the clutch back in and begin slowing down. THe noise stopped and I shifted to third and gave it a bit of gas and the motor just free-revved like the clutch was in. I tried 2nd gear and nothing. Then I tried first and nothing. Coasted to a stop on the side of the road. After I stopped I tried reverse and nothing but it did let out a bad grind. Got it to the tranny shop that installed the SPEC. The pulled the trans out and the disk fell to pieces. I was pretty upset considering the money this cost me at the time. By the way I speed shift; I do NOT powershift and at the time I had 275-40zr-17 F1s with about 20% tread left. So excessive traction didn't do this. SPEC told me it must have been a hydraulic issue with my factory hydraulics Can you believe that? They basically told me to stuff it in my a$$. I picked up a used disk to get the car on the road until Rapid motorsports could do the complete install on the ARE H/C and RAM clutch...see sig. Like I said my 00 WS6 has a SPEC clutch for the time being. It will be replaced with a RAM VDS 910/402 clutch. RAM is a great company, yes expensive products...but you get what you pay for. With the VDS system you get:
-disk
-pressure plate
NEW (not rebuilt or used, like Carteks)adjustable -master cylinder
New slave cylinder
NEW billet flywheel
thow-out bearing

Re: Which clutch for my setup?
One plus about Ram is that they post right on these forums and try to help us out with any problems we might have with there clutches. IMO it is always cool for a sponsor to do this cause it shows that they really back their product.
I personally just put in a Centerforce w billet flywheel, after getting the MC adjusted right this thing shifts real smooth with no chatter. I am still breaking it in though so no WOT runs yet so hopefully it will shift at high rpms.
