Default Figure this out?!?!

I just put a new motor in my Camaro and now the trans and everything is back in the car is stuck in skip shift. The solenoid is not connected so there is no power going to it but it still is stuck.

With the key off it goes threw every gear fine but as soon as you put power to the car it locks. I also have to fight it into reverse with the power on and off. I work for a GM dealer so i looked at teh solenoid with a tech 2 and it reads it as inactive.

So the tranny tech and i have no clue what the problem is. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix this?

skip shift only locks the shift from 1-> 4, it doesn't lock the entire trans.

Can you describe better what is happening when the car is started? "power to the car"

Could you have a ground missing from the engine/trans?

I dont think it is a power issue, because the car starts and runs fine. It once you turn the key to on it locks it.

Never seen one stick like that before . Hit it with a hammer and see if it unlocks .

But he stated the lock-out is not connected, and it shifts fine with the key off.. It sounds more like a clutch issue, but I'm not sure of the exact situation.

There are two solenoids. I suspect the one you see unplugged is the reverse inhibitor solenoid. What you describe could happen if you plugged the reverse plug into the skip solenoid. It powers the solenoid at 0-low speed. The skip solenoid is on the main case/ the reverse is on the rear extension housing.
