Default Gears or Rear end?

I dont plan on going to the track with drag radials or slicks anytime soon, but Just got a nice cam install coming up and should be approx 400RWHP. The gentelman from Thunder Racin reccomended to either get some gears like 3.73 or better yet 4.10's since I have a six speed or get a 12bolt. Well I dont have money for a 12 bolt right now but was wondering is it possible to break the rear end on the goodyear eagle F1 tires with 4.10 gear in the back and about 400 RWHP? I do plan on buying in Jan or Feb a 12 bolt but till then, well you know =) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Still running a stock clutch?
If so it will help save your rear, cus they have problems holding a stock motor!
You can still pop that rear though so maybe be easy on it till the 12'er?
The higher gear will help alot, & match your power band w/ the cam much better.
Then with the 12 bolt you can do the high rpm clutch dump of death!!

Save your money and get the 12 bolt, because you will never see the real power of your car untill you start doin some high rpm launches. Your 3.42s should be alright till then. Just my .02

Thanks guys, so I think after I get the CAM installed. I will go with the reccomendation of getting a clutch like the McLeod Kevlar Organic with the steel flywheel. Then within two or so months get the rear end maybe a ford 9 inch or a 12 bolt whichever is cheaper ;-)

Appreciate your input.

Don't do the gears - its a waste of money especially on a 6 speed car. What will end up happening is that you will spend the money on the gears, which will make the rear even more fragile, then it will beak, and you are now screwed even worse then before cause now you have money invested in the stock rear and nothing for the new one! Don't learn the hard way.

Just take it easy on the stocker for a bit.
