Default Max RPM for syncros

What is the maximum RPM a non-faceplated transmission can be shifted?

Not really a RPM variable, more TQ related. Shifting at 10,000rpm on jack stands, will be different than shifting 10K on the track with slicks&VHT.

I still contend that the muli-cone synchros in the C5/CTO T56s can withstand larger TQ loads than the single cone units in the LT1/LS1 versions.

Gotcha. I was told by an old sponsor that 7300 is about all a syncro can handle. If they can handle 8000 rpm and 750hp/600tq. I'm happy!

Sounds like they were going on empirical data from their race car combo. If you are making similar power as they were, at a similar weight, and similar shock-loads, you may find that 7300 is a reasonable rpm limit. Synchros have a finite surface area and coefficient-of-friction, so you can't break the laws of physics... ;-)

Lots of variables ......... clutch , torque of engine , shifter (stick length and design) , type of fluid in it and more so the driver .

I'm sure what they meant is that syncros become a limitation on shift time after 7300rpm. I've always heard that. Less than ~ 7300rpm you won't shift faster by taking them out.
