Default flywheel question

how many times can a flywheel be resurfaced?
do they go bad?
dose anyone have a part # for the stock flywheel?
is it possible that the fly wheel to cause a clutch disce to go bad?
do clutchs normally last for just a 1-2 years? cause mine last me for a lil more than a year and i have to change it again. last clutch was a spec 2

I've always been told to only surface once and that's only if your still within tolerances.
Yes they can go bad. A tell tale sign is heat spotting. If there's alot of blue heat spots I've always been told to just replace it.
Yes a bent or warped, or even burnt flywheel can cause a clutch to burn up or even break in some extreme cases.
My stock clutch had 114,000 miles on it. Most of that time was while the engine was built.

GM# 12581650

Looks like from dealers you can only buy as an entire clutch assembly kit.
Price for that at my dealer is $656.

Edit. gmpartsdirect.com has the LS1 kit for $389

You'd be better off going LS7 clutch and LS2 flywheel for cheaper than that. Mine was around $450 if I remember right.

My bad. I should've paid more attention. The dealer I call is closed now. Any dealer should be able to at least give you a part number.
