Default LS7 clutch on a LS1

ive been playing around on the computer at work in the parts dept. The computer says that GM part# 12571611 is for the LS7 pp, clutch disk, and flywheel. its the whole kit.
I have also found on the internet that people are selling part#12571611 as only the flywheel, and GM part# 24238412 as the pressure plate and clutch disk.
And some people say that you cant use the LS7 pressure plate on a ls1....
I am so confused....
Will someone please clarify this for me, because i want to use the LS7 set up on my 2000 T/A.
Thanks.

You can run the ls7 clutch, you have to run the ls2 flywheel.I have the part #'s at work.I installed one in my 01 t/a.It works fine.I have a d1 procharger with no slip.your year model slave will work.

you can also run the ls6 Clutch package. I found them to be much cheaper and without any major upgrades you should be fine with that. Bolts right in and under $300 complete shipped.

Right now scoggin dickey has free shipping on a bunch of stuff...including the LS7 clutch package. Everything you need, in one package, at a pretty much unbeatable price. $459.99 SHIPPED... Cant really beat that.

I ordered mine from SD and was not disappointed. Fast shipping, helpful customer service, came with the new bolts and all. Grab a GM slave cylinder from them also..since the trans it out, no better time to replace. The LS7 clutch so far has performed great. Awesome street manners, grabs great, and installed without a hitch.

Do you have to shim the LS7 clutch upon install?

I didnt shim anything. I installed it straight up with a new slave. After the break in, it drove great... however Im installing a TICK master cylinder (now on group purchase ) to make sure everything is working as its supposed to. I have slightly notchier shifts than I did with my spec...but my spec was pretty beat.

NO NO NO, LOL.

No tryin to be a dick but this has been covered so many times it's not funny. The LS7 clutch kit for the LS1 f-body comes complete with LS2 flywheel. If your gonna run the LS7 clutch you MUST use a LS2 flywheel. No shims or tricks to install. Just swap it out for the old stocker, stab the tranny back in & bleed it.

It's a very easy & straight forward install.

Man I'm not sure about shop quality in your area. there is a good place in OKC & one here in Tulsa but Oklahoma is lacking in LS performance shops.

Abel racing told me they'd do a spec2+ for ~1100$ in my 2002 ss camaro. i ended up doing it myself ended up around $650 inc new slave and tob and pilot. I am goign to get it tuned there in the next few weeks though. im not saying there not a decent shop but pricey,, yes

You can get ls7 clutch and pressure plate from summit racing and order a gto flywheel from rock auto..that would be the lowest price for a ls1/ls7 clutch kit
