Another tranny problem

Another tranny problem I'll describe it best i can.
This morning i took the car out for a cruise and about 10 minutes in i was stopped at a light and all of a sudden there was a clunking noise and the car died, i turned the key and it started right up and i got it home asap...
Seems that the noise is coming from the transmission, almost like there's something rattling around inside there. The car still shifts fine and the noise is only there when the car is in neutral with the clutch out, if i push in the clutch the noise stops.
Does anyone have any idea wtf is wrong??? Is it time for a rebuild or is this a diy job?

Car is a 02SS with a tex clutch with less then 3k on it

I would have to hear the noise but if it goes away when you push the clutch in , it could very well be inside the transmission . Does the car have a large camshaft in it ? Could be one of the springs in the clutch disc rattling as well .

I wouldn't say the cam is large.. it's a 230/234 comp cam. just wondering how that would contribute to the tranny rattle?
And one other thing, The rattling is very intermittent, sometimes happening 4mins apart from the last one... almost like something gets caught rattles around then drops down.
