Default master cyclinder test

ok I was having a problem getting my clutch pedel to return while bleeding. I did a little test on the M/C, I took the steel braided line that runs from the master to the clutch, held open the vlave at the end of it with a homemade tool. I stuck it into a bottle of dot 3/4 fluid and pumped it until i saw no more bubbles (even had a mityvac hooked to the reserve for extra pull). Well when all was said and done i released the valve at the end of the hose and pushed on the pedal. it went in about 3-4 inched before it stopped. Is this normal or should it not move at all?

Am I not properly bleeding the slave and thats why I am not getting any pedal pressure for the return?

Open bleeder, push in pedal, close bleeder.........repeat x 100+

Also I have been running the mityvac for over 30 minutes now and it is still pulling bubbles, big bubbles, being this is my first time doing this I dont know how long it normally takes but from reading threads it should be this long correct? Can I have an air leak in my master?
