purchased car hit on rh side and runs and all gears except 2nd gear,tires dont spin! any idea what it might be and how much it will cost me?

 

Does the shifter pull all the way into the 2nd gear position, or does it not engage all the way. If you could be very specific about anything unusual, that'll help. Does 1st seem to engage earlier in the "H" pattern then 3rd, or 5th?

 

Sounds like something inside the transmission unles the lever got bent way out of wack and won't allow it to go into 2nd for some reason. Pull the consol out and take the shifter boot off, pull the shifter out and shift it into 2nd see if it works. If not the trans will have to come apart.

 

Does it go into 2nd gear? If so and it does not move, you could have a 2nd gear with the engaugement teeth ripped off of it.
