No. Only the balance of the PP to the flywheel matters. I believe Tex already balances their units anyway as they are a premium brand. If you bought the PP separate from the flywheel then it would need balancing.

Okay that's what I was afraid of. The flywheel is a lightweight chromoly that didn't come from Textralia. The flywheel's specs do mention that it's computer balanced, but of course that wouldn't have anything to do with the balance of the flywheel and pressure plate together. I had started calling around town trying to find a shop that does balancing, but didn't have any luck. This sucks.

I would believe the clutch from textrilla should be a balanced unit. If your flywheel is balanced and the guide pins are in place and the 2 pieces should bolt up and be balanced together. I have done 2 different flywheels and about 6 different clutches over the years and never had any of them balanced.... not saying im 100% right but they have always been bolt and go. I cant imagine that a company would sell a part like that and not make it a bolt on item.

Cody when i said balancing I meant the pressure plate and the flywheel, not the disc to the pressure plate. Now that we have our answer on the balancing issue we have another problem. Someone chime in here. Guys if you look at the flywheel you will notice 2 dowel pins sticking out on the flywheel(one is hard to see cause of the plastic). This pressure plate will only bolt up ONE WAY to this flywheel, and these pins will not let the plate sit like it is supposed to. They may have been for some other pressure plate, but not this one. What are we supposed to do about these pins? Also in the top pic of the disc, is this the side that faces the trans? I have done a couple myself but its been a few yrs and they were all assembled from the factory, so I just unbolted and bolted back up and went on my way.

Humm... the pins do face toward the trans and should let the PP slide on. That is how it is a centered and balanced unit. Is the flywheel for the car your trying to use it on? I know i had to tap my PP on with a rubber mallet because of the excess paint in the alignment holes. If they are off that far you should try and contact the manufacturer of the flywheel.

The consensus is that we're gonna tap the required holes for the flywheel's dowel pins. If you go to this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts...ale-trade.html

Look at the pic of the pressure plate. At roughly 9 o' clock and 3 o' clock you will see the bolt tabs that have the little dowel pin hole just to the left of the main bolt holes. On my pressure plate, those two main bolt holes just have solid metal on the portion of the tab where the dowel holes should be. Why? I don't know. Also note that the supplied flywheel has the dowel pins, just as my lightweight flywheel does, which we will be mating to the pressure plate. So, we'll line up the flywheel and mark where the dowel pins should go, and use a drill press to precisely tap the correct holes.

Just make sure you take it out and measure it very carefully. If it is off in the least little bit you will be out of balance and more than likely have a clutch failure. If it is out of the car I think I would take it and have it balanced or at least checked before putting it back in. You may be going to do this already though.
