Hurst shifter install tips for newbe?

I am installing a new Hurst Billet/Plus shifter in my M6 1999 SS. The instructions seem straight forward. Does anyone have any hints, tips, or secrets that will help me. Thanks.

It should take about 15 min. Install is straight forward.

Be careful when removing the leather shift boot to not break the thin plastic bottom. You may need longer bolts to attach it to the transmission or you risk stripping the threads since the bottom plate may be thicker.
