First: It is ONLY in the shift ****.....
It's enough to be ungodyly aggravating, if my hand is off the **** it starts to rattle. It's a hurst 6spd shift ball. Nothing fancy, the ball and the lock nut are both tight.
It will go away if I just barely rest my hand on the ****, so should I take it off, and squirt some insulation foam inside? See what happens?
Or someone else have a better idea?

i had a ball shift **** before , and it had a brass insert that was pressed in , that was my rattle so i took it out using a vice and a pry bar ,then i epoxied that hole and used the vise to press the insert in further than it was previously and left it in there for a day while it dried , no more rattle after that .
