Shifter removal help needed!

Shifter removal help needed! So while driving home today my shifter got stuck in second gear. I started working towards removing the shifter to check the linkage but i discovered a seal that must be removed to remove the shifter, and it didn't seem like i would be able to seal it back after removing it. Im honestly quite a 'noob' and i dont want to screw anything up so if there is a writeup somewhere showing how to re-install a shifter into an f-body PLEASE post the link or just tell me what to do. Sorry for the stupid question but i need to get this fixed quickly

Yeah it probably has RTV already on it so it doesn't leak. You may very well have to pry it off. Don't worry though, I've done that many times. Just like TheSecretFormula said, just go to your local auto store and buy some RTV sealent, put a little around all the edges and put the shifter back on.
