Default Flywheel questions

Well it looks like i'm going to need a new clutch real soon because it's slipping very bad (after about 55k miles) lately and the pedal stuck to the floor for the second time last night. I think the sticking is more from the hydraulics going bad than the clutch itself but I figure I might as well do it all at once since the car is a 98 anyhow. I think i'm going to go with a spec stage 3 and updated gm hydraulics. My question is regarding the flywheel since this will be the first clutch install i've done. Is a new or resurfaced flywheel necessary? I'm on a rather tight budget as a college student here so i'm trying to save money if possible. If it's needed, how much do local machine shops usually charge to resurface the flywheel of a 98 t/a?

You can get away with doing nothing to the flywheel but the new clutch won't seat properly.I personally buy new for a piece of mind.Alot of people do resurface and shim the slave bearing.

What kind of problems would that cause? The car will most likely be full bolt-on, ls6 cam, and 100-125 shot or so. Also, if I do resurface the flywheel what kind of shim will I need or could I just reuse it like I would a brand new flywheel without adjustment? Anyone have input on the price involved?
