Default M6 Build or Replace?

Ok guys, I am planning for the future. Right now, my WS-9 is pretty much stock. I did order my Magnaflow exhaust, Im waiting for it to arrive. I plan to change to LTH, an intake, 12 bolt with 4:88, and lots of suspension stuff but motor wise, Im not doing much for a couple years. The reason is, I don't trust the mechanics here on this remote island to do my engine internal stuff. So, since there is a GM dealer here...I plan to stuff the LS-7 into it around 160k miles. I know there are cheaper and more HP routes to go for the money...I have been through that lecture before...BUT it is more reliable for me to get something that the dealer can work on if something goes wrong.

Now, here is my question. I have the M6, I am assuming it is a T56, since it seems like every post in this section has T56 written in it somewhere. We all know thw LS-7 is 505 HP. With intake exhaust and headers with catalyst delete, I am assuming I will be in the 525-550 range....no dynos here to test either. I have read about the tranny and rear ends being the weak link, but will my T-56 handle this mod? Is there anyway to bulletproof the T-56 to handle around 700HP in case I decide to NOS or suupercharge it in the future? Or would it be more feasable just to replace it with a totally new trans?

Thanks in advance.

If you upgrade the output shaft to 30 spline from the Viper and related upgrades, it should be good for 800 FT LBS.

Ok, I was planning to put in a monster clutch when it is time....I still have the original in it. Maybe I will plan this mod when I change the clutch. Thanks, I will read up on it.

The 3/4 fork upgrade from stock (aluminum) to cast is recommended. I plan to do the same in my rebuild this winter. Snycros are real bad on my 100k 98

I did read and saw the pix on that post a coupel days ago, that is why I came up with this one. I would have never thought the fork would make much difference, but I dont want to be in that situation either.

The upgrade consist of the following:

Steel 3-4 shift fork

Billet keys for 3-4 and 5-6 (1-2 for F-body since they use stamped steel keys like 3-4 and 5-6; Vettes use powered metal which doesn't need replacing)

Bronze fork pads (1 through 6 AND reverse)
