I am going to look at a 95 T/A 6 Speed tomorrow. The seller told me that it has a short throw shifter installed in it, but you have to keep your hand on the shifter in reverse to keep it in gear. He said that this is because the shifter rubs the console in reverse. Is this a common problem and is there a solution to it?

The shifter does come close to the passenger’s side of the inner console hole when the car is in reverse, I’m running a Pro5.0 shifter BTW. My 97 has a different console than the 95 does but I don't see it causing the shifter to pop out of reverse. I would suspect the problem to be related to the reverse lock-out or an internal transmission issue. I would defiantly do some good test driving and inspecting before purchasing.

I made a mistake in my original post. I talked to the owner last night and he said it won't pop out, you just have to push it in gear until you release the clutch, then it is fine. It sounds like an adjustment issue.
