clutch master question

clutch master question i am 90% complete with my a4 to m6 swap and was noticing when i push the clutch pedal in it wont move, it doesnt move at all. now, i dont have the cable hooked to the slave cause im waiting on a clutch so the trans isnt in. but i guess what my question is, should i be able to push the clutch pedal in without the cable being hooked to the slave?
No, if the line isn't plugged into the slave then the pedal should be hard as a rock and shouldn't move at all. If it were to move when you push on it, then you have an issue with the master. Basically you've got a hydraulic system with nowhere for the fluid to go, so if you push the master rod/pedal and it moves, then fluid is escaping the system.
Agreed...you have to hook up the slave to allow fluid to transfer from the master. As a side note you want to be careful if you do hook the slave up because you can over-extend the slave and blow the seals if you press the pedal. Remember, with the clutch installed the bearing will only extend as far as needed. Without the clutch in place and thus the diaphragm there to limit travel you can easily push through the slave.
