Transmission Grinding???

Transmission Grinding??? The other day when I was driving my car I noticed that when I downshifted from 5th to 4th gear that it grinded really bad, but if I shift from 4th to 5th it does not do it. Is it my 4th gear syncronizer going out? How much does it cost to get it fixed?

I just got in from getting an estimate. Im having my 5th gear replaced and syncro, they said if I take it out and bring it up there they would do it for 900-1000k. Which I think is high. I'm not sure what a good price is. I would like to know some more feedback.

Thats seems high to me, i beleive you can get a tranny for about $1800
Well
If you were in Texas I can Replace all the syncros for about 60 Bucks plus parts.
The Syncro Kits is about 160 Bucks.
It takes about 3 hours after the tranny is on my work bench.

I have down about 5 here in Austin Texas and so far they are all still running.

Thanks for the info! I know I probably won't be able to get you my car even though I wish I could but I appreciate the offer. I have a guy up here who just put in my clutch for me and he was pretty reasonable. I will probably take it to him when I get the money.
