Default spec, mcleod, or Ram

I am in the process of doing h/c project. Which clutch is best for me. The car should make around 420 rwhp and it will be driven mostly on the street, but I do drag race it quiet a bit. Maybe you guys can tell me the pros and cons of each clutch.

I really like my RAM VDS 910. it holds great. will be adding a 12-bolt and cant wait to drop the clutch w/ this set up. Its a non slip but once you get the hang of it its no problem and if you have 4.10's or more in the rear its not that bad.

I had a RAM and it blew with 1500 miles on it.Peddle pressure sucked bad.

Have a Mcloed now and holds great, but my friend has had serious issues with his not holding the power.

So
I would suggest SPEC..There new design seems to be working good and I'll be installing one soon in the spring.

I have the RAM 910. this is my 4th clutch and the best sofar.its been smooth,no chatter w/3.73's(it's better with the 4.10's now)the pedle is not stiff and its held my 430hp pulling the front wheel off the ground.its been a great street clutch and when me and my n.o.s wear it out,i will buy another ram 910. i'm also in michigan 70mi north of detroit, where are you at?- goodluck to ya.

Yea I think I will go with the Ram, but I am still not sure. By the way I live about 30-40 miles north of detroit, in a little town called Romeo.

GOODLUCK TO YA. ps. if you need someone to install it,give me a yell. i'll set you up with the shop that did mine, great work and really good prices.

What do you guys think about the Ram VDS 980. Will it hold still? How bad would it be driving around town on the Ram VDS 910 with 3.42 gears and a 228R 112lsa cam?

I have a RAM 6130 now and like it alot but it sounds to me like the 910 is what you need. My roommate has the SPEC stg. 3 ceramic on his and it isnt too bad either.

The new SPEC Stage 3 x-pad has been working very well of late. We have installed 15+ of them and have sent over 50 out the door in the last few months.

The x-pad usually does not chatter too much in the break-in period.. After 4/500 miles and a little abuse this thing feels great.

Easily slippable in traffic, I've driven spec 3's in the cross bronx/gwb traffic all the time.

Are all of the SPEC clutches for the LS1 SFI approved?

I too have the 6130/402 RAM VDS in my SS and I love it. I also have a 1st design SPEC stage 3 carbon in my 00 Ws6 with a stock master cylinder and a new updated slaved. The SPEC is a decent clutch but I like my RAM much better. If I were you I would call Mikey at Rapid Motorsports and he'll point in the right direction!
