Default Clutch Problems

My first post, so go easy.I purchased a 02 CETA with 4k miles on it several months ago and I am very impressed. It was basically a brand new car. It now has about 12k on the speedo and I have a clutch problem. My teenage son decided he wanted to drive it one night and did a little racing in it. He noticed the clutch did not feel right and drove it home. The next morning, the car would shift into gear, but it goes nowhere. Matter of fact, with the car running you can shift into all the gears and it goes nowhere with or without the clutch depressed. I have been told he blew the clutch up or the slave cylinder is out, but it does not make any type of unusual noises. I have searched for days looking for answers, but no one can tell me exactly what is wrong until the pull the tranny. I can't see the clutch being trashed since this was a one time deal with my son and I baby the car. Any ideas?

Default Clutch is gone

Looks like the clutch is trashed. We tried bleeding it and nothing changed. Any recommendations on what to replace it with? I see that most people are replacing there clutches with LS 7 clutch kit. Since the car will not have any modifications would this be a good choice? I am looking for something that will last a lot longer than 12k miles. Also, who has the best deal for a clutch kit? Thanks in advance for any input.

The fact that you can put the car in gear and release the clutch pedal without any allowable forward motion definitely points at this being a clutch issue; most likely relative to extreme clutch wear that has thinned the disc so much that the pressure-plate cannot apply any clamp-load. There are lots of options for Stock cars. We provide 7 different single-disc clutch options and a stage 1 or 2 would be a great option for your needs. I have provided a link to our webpage specific to this model. Take a look and let me know if you have any questions. Remember, you will need to either resurface the stock flywheel or buy a new one (ultimately you want to insure that the flywheel used is flat as this will impact clutch performance, life expectency, and drivability). Thanks!

Default Thanks to everyone

Thanks for the input. You guys on LS1 are a great wealth of knowledge. I have to put this on the back burner for a couple more weeks. I am out of the country right now. A special thanks to Jeremy at Spec. He took the time to answer the many questions I had. Outstanding service!
