T56 Temperature Gauge
T56 Temperature Gauge Ok im prepared to be flamed, regardless I'm wondering where on the t56 I could place a temperature sensor for a glowshift gauge I got. Im not sure if it woud screw in place of the drain bolt or I could somehow secure itsomewhere inside and just run the wires out somewhere. The picture is of the sensor.

I placed mine in the fill hole, since I never use that (fill through the shifter). You'll probably need and adaptor from 1/4-NPT or whatever your sensor is, to the 3/4-NPT that the fill hole is.
(Fill hole gets enough splash to get a temp reading)
FWIW, I never found my fluid going above 180F, even after a 20min HPDE session. I rarely ever use the gauge now...

Loctite will help. I'm just a pessimist at heart and didn't want to risk my trans for something that's works perfectly well in a hole that won't drain my trans..
The late model vettes have another 3/4-NPT port on the LHS of the case where they mount a temp sensor, so it's not unheard of.. Just a chance you don't have to take IMHO..
