Need help diagnosing a shifting issue
I've had a shifting issue for a while now. It's not much more than really notchy shifting, but here's the thing: I've experienced some really smooth shifting... but it doesn't last for long. I've bled and bled the hydraulics... then bled some more, and I've adjusted the master cylinder too, over and over.
When I adjust the M/C out the shifting gets extremely smooth, like no resistance smooth, but it only lasts for about a minute or so... about the time it takes for things to start to warm up. Now I've adjusted the M/C out to where it's out to the stock pedal height and I'm a little worried about adjusting it out any more. My pedal has some play in the top of it too, like the kind you get from air in the lines. I've checked for leaks and I can't find any (except for the leak in my last tick master which they replaced for free!).
Could it possibly be my slave?? If so its about a year old and has about 6k miles on it. This whole thing is getting old.
My setup will stay smooth shifting for about 2 shifts worth, then it's back to being notchy. 5th gear also scrapes. When everything feels like it's shifting smooth (right after I adjust everything) then it shifts great. Actually, it shifts like a foreign car. It gets so smooth that you swear there isn't even any resistance when it goes into gear. I've also noticed that all the noise associated with the monster clutch goes away when things are working well... hydraulically.
I have a sneeking suspicion that it's my slave cylinder. I've bled these hydraulics until even a colonial American doctor would say that's enough.
