please help!!!!! I just got a bmr adj. torque arm and 3.73's installed about 4 days ago. today the car is making a real loud humming noise. it sounds like it is coming from the drive shaft and maybe the rear. the mechanic says the posi unit gears are worn out, and he said the factory gears he pulled out were worn. please give some in-sight. thanks,
Here is the most likely problem. The gears are not installed properly, or they are just noisy gears (like Richmond). The quiet gears come from GM, Superior, and SLP. Most of the others are noisy even when setup properly. Rest assured that if you have any of those three gears, a good installer will be able to make them quiet. Also be sure to run them through the proper heat cycling before ANY hard acceleration. Also, the posi unit that SLP uses has no gears, it uses clutches.
In addition, the BMR torque arm will transmit alot more drivetrain noise into the cabin, so keep that in mind. The only ones that are quiet are the stocker and the G2 TA.
