Clutch? Alright, this is my first ls1 car it a 2000 ss. I purchased it about 6k miles ago and the clutch was slipping up top when I first got it and it is slowly starting to get worse, I believe it to be the stock unit with 120k miles on it so not too bad, but with that said I am about to replace the unit. The car is a bolt on car and I am trying to decide what clutch to go with just for daily driving and maybe a few pulls at the track one day. I am currently looking at the spec stage 1 or some other reasonably priced units the clutch pedal is still smooth as butter so I plan on not replacing the slave unless I get in there and it looks bad anyone have any recommendations? I am trying to stay around 300-400 dollars it is just a dd.
A Stage 1 would be great...but you need to plan to replace the slave. The earlier card had notoriously bad hydraulic issues and an updated system was offered in 2001+ models. You can buy this from the dealer or through a number of vendors on this site (even me). The stage 1 will provide very good drivability and better capacity than the stock parts (it's rated to handle 599 torque at the crank). Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,
