Rear seal question

Rear seal question The rear seal on my trans has been leaking for quite a while, but it was a slow leak from the dust boot. I finally changed it, and now it's leaking from between the seal and the transmission housing. I made sure that the seal was all the way in, and I'm not sure what else to do.
I've pulled the seal (and destroyed it) and bought a new one. I don't know if this is an issue with the bushing, maybe some scratches in the housing from removing the original seal, an installation issue, or what. I'm considering putting some RTV around the outside of the new seal before putting it in.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
