Pilot bearing question????

Default Pilot bearing question????

does anyone have a pic of what a new pilot bearing looks after being installed?......also, any tricks or tips for getting the old one out?

I dont have any pics...but for removing the old one go to autozone and get a blind hole puller

thanks, i'll check that out.....those type use the slide hammer i think....i read that turning a can of compressed air for cleaning keyboards can help....you have to turn it upside down and spray the bearing with the Co2.....appearently it freezes, constricts, and is alot easier to pull out....i'm gonna try it and post results.....is replacing the rear main seal complicated?

When you spray it, spray the outer race only. Anything else is a waste of time.

wish i had a camera so i could post pics....85,000 miles and i don't think the pilot has ever been changed.....is it ok if i don't change the rear main seal?.......there was a little bit of oil on the old flywheel bolts when i took them out, but i think the guy that had the car before me used locktite when he did the clutch.... no oil was on the back of the motor....none caked on the inside of the bellhousing either....i might just leave it

I still have what was left of my stock pilot bearing when I changed clutches. That thing was toast! It also killed my input shaft Blind hole bearing puller is your friend.
