Default T-56 Questions...

I just bought a rebuilt T-56 and the guy said it had internal slave cylinder and that it took automatic transmission fluid. Are you really supposed to use auto trans fluid i thought it was just for the internal one but he said ALL T-56 transmissions use auto trans fluid. Also what is the difference between the internal and external besides the fact of where its located??? Is one better than the other??? I plan to put the Spec stage 3 clutch kit with a o.e.m flywheel from SLP.

There are no Hydraulics inside the T56
But you do fill it will ATF.
Not gear lube.
Maybe he's talkin about the Slave cylinder.
But no atf goes in there .
LT1 car had the slave cylinder on the outside of the tranny.
LS1 cars have the slave cylinder that goes around the input shaft, inside the bell housing.
Does that help ya any?

yeah i think he was referring to the slave cyliner being internal but is there a diff between the two exteranl and internal as far as the performance of the tranny?

Don't really know
The external one is easier to service.
I'm guessing that Gm went to the internal one as an upgrade.
Fewer moving part.
Not sure if one is better than the other.
Not that it really matters
if you are this tranny in your 2000 you would have to use the internal.
