Default 5th and 6th growling and no reverse

I was driving the other day in 6th gear and the car started jerking and then made a noise like something snapped,it started making a growling sound in 5th and 6th gear,it still shifts and drives in 5th and 6th.I went to move the car the next day and it will not go into reverse.

It does not make a growling noise in 1st,2nd,3rd,or 4th

What do you Guys think it could be?
Thanks Steve

You may have popped a snap-ring on the Rev or 5-6 shift fork, cracked your shift fork pads, or broken some synchro keys. Won't know for sure until it gets taken apart.

Thanks for the reply.I hope to get it out within the next week and tear it it down for inspection.Maybe the damage is not to bad.

I drove the car for about ten miles when this happened, because I was not going to walk at 12:30 A.M. after getting off from at long hot day at work.
