Default MayDay! Tranny/Clutch?

40mph, 4th gear, access road....give a little gas to speed up to change lanes, car jumps like a stall, then this horrible grinding sound starts coming from the tranny area. Pull over, cars in neutral, get out of car, still horrible sound, get back in, engage clutch a few times, sound dampens significantly. Now I can drive the car, but the tranny sounds like Im pushing an electric Radio Control bigfoot toy truck around just a very deep whine. Also, if I'm in neutral with the clutch held in, when I let the clutch engage in neutral, I can hear the whine start again, barely, then the whine is NSYNC with the RPMs as I drive. The whine sound is nothing compared to the initial grind I heard, it sounded like a chunk of concrete inside my tranny? Im am completely clueless. This has surely happned to someone before, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.!

Sounds like you may have broken something clutch-related.

Then why are you asking us?

Jason told you the problem is the clutch which is 90% likely as long as all the gears (2nd and 5-6 specifically) still work.

Manual trans' don't "slip" like a stall, clutches slip.

I asked the question when I was still trouble shooting the issue ***! Look at the post times and dates! Don't come in here spamming up a simple question. I was following up on my post after the MECH seen it which was way after I ASKED the question.

Thanks Jason, 5th and 6th are gone, clutch seemsed to be functioning properly.
