3rd gear wind sound

3rd gear wind sound hey guys, my cars a 98 v6 5speed. when i drove it today, i put it in 3rd and noticed it made a sort of shhhhh sound. when i gave it more gas and sped up, it would get louder. just wondering what it is. does the same thing in fifth if im going about 45-50 and give it more gas to get the rpms up. any ideas? don't want to have to tear my car apart before i get to drive it close to everyday

is it just at a certain RPM? or is it more of a speed thing?
does it sound like its coming through the trans tunnel? I guess it could be that the lower shifter boot tore and you're hearing road noise, but i would assume thats rare

ill drive it again tommorrow or friday and i'll see if it does that stopped and running. i was goin about 28 and put it in 3rd and it started and stayed doin that til i put it in 4th. slowed down and put it back in 3rd, same noise until i put it in 4th. then i sped up to about 55 and put it in 5th and had to slow back down a little and when the rpms start getting too low, how a car usually vibrates sayin you need to shift down or speed up, it would whistle in 5th until i got up to good rpms. i was also goin 55 and held the clutch and put it in 3rd rolling and it did it rolling, put it in N and nothin, back in 3rd, back to the shhhhhhhh. if anyone has any more ideas for tests, tell me, or any causes of this, i'd be thankful
