Default Reverse not working

I just converted my car from an a4 to m6 and i'm having issues with reverse. I didn't wire up the reverse lockout wires but I wasn't sure it that was needed. I had to take the master cylinder out because it was defective so I'm not able to try to get it in reverse with car running but with the car off it won't go past the 5-6 slot. Is it possible that when i install the new master i will be able to get it in with the clutch or will i have to wire up the lockout?

you need to wire the lockout or delete it. some just wire it to brake pedal to activate..

Thanks! Is there a write up somewhere on how to wire it to the brake pedal or delete it?
