grinding noise
grinding noise Hey guys. I've been working on my 95 Trans Am project. I was told when I bought the car the trans was bad (T56) and locked in 4th gear. I got home and gave it a try. Shifted ok through all gears but made a bad grinding noise when the clutch was out. When you push the clutch in the noise goes away. Went ahead and pulled trans- put in new clutch, TOB, pilot bearing, PP, flywheel. Got her back together today and it's making the same noise. Speeds up with engine RPM and when you push the clutch in it slows down then stops- not instantly. Drives fine shifts through all gears smoothly. What else could it be?
Input shaft or countershaft front bearing. Not something you want to let go (the input to counter gears will grind and junk those shafts)
