Default Getting ready for first clutch install

Looks like I'm gearing up for a clutch replacement.

Will 4 rhino ramps give me enough height to get the tranny out?

Also, other then Dex III ATF and DOT 3 Brake fluid, do I have all the parts I need listed here? The throwout bearing comes with the slave correct?

12570806 - Clutch/Pressure Place/Flywheel package
15046288 - Clutch Slave Cylinder/Actuator
14061685 - Engine Crankshaft Clutch Pilot Bearing

I have a 2000, thus the slave, I'll do the master later if need be.

Thanks in advance.

We did mine with the car on normal-sized jackstands... it was fairly high, not sure how rhino ramps compare height-wise. The slave comes with a throwout bearing, yes. Your parts list looks good... does the clutch package come with an alignment tool?

I don't think Rhino ramps will get your car high enough to work the trans. You would be much better off using a good floor jack(at least 3 1/2 ton) to lift the car as high as possible then use some really heavy duty jackstands. When my buddy did his LT4 Vette, he used truck style floorjacks and it was plenty high but make damn sure the surface you are working on is completely LEVEL! Are tose part numbers you have listed for a LS6 clutch? If so, why are you going with a stock style clutch? I would go with a RAM 910/402 VDS system; it'll have everything you need to go the job and that clutch will handle anything you throw at it no problem while being VERY streetable too.

I was looking at going with the Ram or a Spec but right now $$ is an issue, so it looks like the Z06 will have to do. This is a replacement due to failure, not an upgrade, but thanks for the suggestion, I wish I could.

Check this post in the parts classified... https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146615

In case the link doesn't work, go to the parts for sale; there is a Ram clutch for sale cheap.

Rhinos under the rear are fine, but they won't be high enough up front to work comfortably. You'll probably need some beefy jackstands to hold up the front end of the car. A tranny jack of some sort will be needed also. That's the way I swapped trannies yesterday. (I put a set of Rhino ramps under the front wheels for safety also, but the wheels were not resting on them - I knew a guy who was killed when his 'vette fell on him, I'm very cautious about jackstands - never assume safety).

You don't have to slide the tranny out from under the car if you're just changing the clutch. Just off to the side.

I'm with you on the safety thing, It looks like I'll carefully make the 400 mile drive to my girlfriend's father's house (I think the car can handle it, seems to me like I have bad hydros but I might as well do the clutch while im in there) he's got a decked out garage for his short track car, lift and the whole 9, makes the job a little nicer. My garage is anything but flat, so if ramps won't cut it, I'm not using jackstands for anything more than safety when changing my oil.

While I'm here, let me explain my problem:
Some clutch noise at low rpm's and when in neutral with my foot off the clutch, noise is gone when im on the clutch in neutral, but I get the first gear "whir" when im on the clutch coasting in 1,2 and 3 (can't really hear it over road noise going faster then that).

Also shifting is getting a little notchy. I want to take care of this before I start hurting my synchros to badly. This is an '00 car with stock hydrolics and clutch.

Sound like I'm on the right track?

Thanks.
