Default release bearing differences

Just bought a replacement release bearing for my 02trans am. And the old one looks way different than the new timken replacement. The plastic guard is diff and shorter and the front of it that faces the engine is different. I would attach pictures but im on my cell phone.

I know there are a couple of different styles. The ones i know of are the flat face bearing type (which was the first style i had) and the round faced bearing.

Here is a pic of my current one, its the rounded faced style that is the newer style if im not mistaken? It works just fine for me.

So if you have that style then you should be set.
