Default dumb question on Master cylinder

I read on here all the time how a master cylinder can affect how a clutch feels and all.. well I was explaining that to someone and they started calling me stupid and saying a master cylinder is strictly brakes and the slave cylinder is the clutch... What is right... I read constantly how it can make the clutch feel mushy and everything on here then I hear different in person.

The brake system has a master cylinder but a clutch system does as well. Whoever you talked to is probably only familiar with old clutch systems that utilize a cable. Educate him. The master cylinder in a hydraulic clutch system is what supplies the fluid to the slave cylinder necessary to release the pressure plate.
