Default DIY faceplates?

Has any member on here done faceplates themself? I want to do this myself, I have the equipment and skills to machine and weld my own parts. I need a little input on what material, # of cogs, lead in angle, ect. Info please.

I dont know what material the liberty plates and sliders are made out of but I had to machine a bit off the slider to clear the weld on the gear. That **** was hard! Some threads on here should show the picks you'll need to answer your questions.

Libertys sells the hard parts and you can just do the machining and welding yourself.

I figure they must be made of A2 or 4140. I read in another thread about a guy doing his own but he never said if he made the parts or not. (Hiossilver) may have been the name. If anyone knows more please let me know.
