Assembly Lube

Assembly Lube
Is assembly lube required if I will be using new parts in my T56 rebuild, such as synchros, blockers, fork pads, etc? If yes, should I use it generously on all parts, or should some parts not have assembly lube on them? I plan on changing the oil after putting some miles on the trans.

New blocker rings should always be soaked in ATF, but the proper lube won't affect the ATF.

You can rebuild with just ATF on everything, but if the trans won't be used for several weeks after a rebuild, ATF will not stay on the parts like lube will.
In addition, the T56 tail housing section doesn't get lubed well and during break in it very common for people to burn up their Reverse assembly. So for my peace of mind, a $7 tub of lube from NAPA goes a long way...
YMMV
