Trans Maintenance.

Trans Maintenance. Is it really worth it to drain your trans of fluid and put new in if your a 6 speed? I was thinkin on converting over to royal purple tranny fluid. My car has 50k and I dont know if its ever been changed. Would this be a good idea? I dont want to do a trans flush, Id just drain replace filters and fluid. Thanks.

ohhiitznik- I'll let you research (try doing a search for "Redline OR Synchromesh OR Dexron OR Dextron" without the quotes in this forum and read up a little) on what type of fluid to go with.
If you do go the Royal Purple route, you might want to think about staying away from their Max ATF fluid. Results from both people I've found using it were not positive.
However, results from people using their Synchromax fluid have been positive.
You may want to read through these threads to gain some perspective, especially since you have a 98-00 T-56:
