Default Transmission problem?

I have been having issues with my camaro that have been hard to diagnose. It makes a rubbing noise that i can hear and feel through the shifter. It usually only does it when i am slowing down right before i come to a complete stop and i am positive it has nothing to do with the brakes. Everytime it has done it i have been in gear with the clutch pushed to the floor, the rubbing sounds metal on metal. Any ideas on what it could be?

car has 66k miles and still stock clutch, feels fine no slipping, makes a rattling noise when i am stopped in neutral and push the clutch down once and let up, doesn't do it in gear or if i don't push the clutch, still does the above noted stuff but very randomly.

00Z-28Maro, Have you figured out what this problem is? I seem to be having a very similar issue.

Just a guess.. I'm thinking that it's your throwout bearing. I had to replace mine on my Z when I got it with 27k miles on it.

I bled my clutch last night and everything seems to be fine now. I'm gonna give it a couple days and see what happens. Your guess was definitely in the right direction. Ihate it when something as dumb as a clutch needing to be bled can sound so terrible.......

Thanks for the advice everyone. It's definately the throwout bearing. might as well upgrade to a spec stage 3 clutch while I'm at it.

Thanks again.
