trouble making 1-2 shift
trouble making 1-2 shift i have a pro 5.0 shifter, and i have been pretty happy with it. yesterday i took the car out for only the second time this year. i was driving and went to shift into 2nd, and it was like there was something trying to push the shifter away from getting into gear. i tried getting it back into gear, and it grinded badly. on the third time, it went in fine. then the next few times i made the
1-2 shift, it was fine. then it would do it again, and continues to do it every 5 or 6 times. any suggestions are appreciated. thanks

Any probs with 3rd or 4th? could be a synchronizer.. However, if all gears are acting up at high rpms, I'd say try bleeding the clutch. I'd also inspect the clutch fluid make sure its full and not burnt. My issue turned out to be a master cylinder, unfortunately, it was too late for me as the tranny was already heavily damaged from doing this for several months.

3rd and forth are fine. i was thinking the stop myself, but then i would probably have the same issue with 4th and 6th right? i will check the cluth fluid, and i will also try bleeding the clutch. thanks for the help so far. any other suggestions anyone

Verdad Gallardo So its doing it all low rpm driving also? You checked the pro 5.0 shift stops? If they are normal all sounds good there. Does the shifter rattle in any one gear alot more than the other? And when I say rattle.. I mean the shifter actually jerks violently back and forth in one gear at a particular rpm range.

My M6 is doing the same thing. It started only at high RPM's and now won't go in to second at all. It also would grind slightly going into 4th at high rpm's. No trouble with 6th but I don't slam 6th like 2nd and 4th.
It is at the shop right now.
This is the second time this has happened. I just had the tranny rebuilt about four months ago and now it's doing the same thing

The first time I was told it was synchros, the guy who is working on it hasn't been into it yet but I hope to hear from him today.

yea, definitly let me know once you hear slim. as for the rattling, there are no violent jerks back and forth, in any certain gear. i think i'll probably take it to the shop this weekend to have it looked at. i dont know wat the hell it is. thanks everyone for the responses. still appreciate any other responses.

I stopped by the shop to check on my car saturday, and it wasn't ready. It was on the lift but they hadn't begun working on it, so I couldn't see anything. After driving it though, he suspected that it might be these little plastic stops on the ends of the shift forks (I think) that had been smashed. He showed me some he had laying on his bench and explained what they do. I am still very much in the learning stages about all this stuff, as I started late in life messing with the cars.

I made it over to check on the car and they were taking the tranny out as I pulled up, so I got to see first hand exactly what happened and ... he was right, it was the plastic shift pads on the end of the forks, one was broken and half of it was gone and the other seemed to be smashed. The result of that was junked slider and gear. I hope this info helps, I am fortunate to live 30 minutes away from one of the best M6, M12 guys around. I can give you his # if you need it.
