Default How is this bleeder operated?

I am having trouble with the clutch in my Camaro, and am hoping it is air in the line. It appears the previous owner also had troubles with the clutch, hence the butchered access hole for the bleeder screw. I feel dumb for asking, but this fitting doesn't look like any other bleeder screws I have seen. There is no nipple for me to hook a hose to direct the fluid into a jar, or better yet hook my vacuum bleeder to.

I have had a chance to peruse the stickies and it appears the fluid just spurts out the end of the fitting and runs to the bottom of the bellhousing?!?! So how do I hook my vacuum bleeder to the fitting and turn it to close it? What kind of backasswards fitting is this?

Also, the clutch master cylinder was wrapped in metal tape. Is this stock? Does the reservoir lid have a black rubber boot under the lid? Mine has no kind of gasket on the bottom side of it.

I welded 2 deep well sockets together then welded a wrench to the end at a slight angle and fed a rubber hose thru wrench and socket, other end of hose into a water bottle filled up a quarter way with dot 3 fluid, then pump and hold left hand and crack and close slave with right, making sure u keep resevoir at master full
