Default shifter questions

Im going to purchase an aftermarket shifter and i'm having trouble deciding which one.
from jegs they have the hurst billet/plus, pro 5.0 and B&m ripper. the Ripper shifter my only concern is how tall it is. is it the same height as the stock shift handle? the hurst billet/plus im thinking thats just a modified stock unit, and the pro 5.0 is 200 bones, I can get the other two for 160 so id save 40 bucks but is it worth the extra money?

what do you guys run and how do you like them? should i put the stops in or leave them out cause i've heard people have problems with them in...true/false?

thanks
Travis

I have the b&m and I love it. Don't know much about the hurst, most people go with either the b&m or the pro5.0 . The handle on the ripper is the same as stock, or very close, I believe it is on the 5.0 as well. The main advantage to the 5.0 is it has a replacable stick, where the b&m does not. Both offer more accurate shifting then the stock unit, and don't have as much cushyness since they don't have the rubber bushing in there. I would try and find someone with each and see how it feels. I wouldn't trade my ripper for anything though.

im more concerned with how it shifts than the looks, i kind of like the way the B&m is one peice though. dont have the worry of busting bolts or it coming loose some how. I had one on a mustang a few years back and loved it

Never driven a Pro5.0, but I can't see how you wouldn't like the B&M. Yes, it is shorter than stock as well. Can't remember exactly how much though.

Either way just get one - because either will be a monumental improvement over stock.

It really isn't that much shorter than stock (and I wasn't refering to looks, the replacable stick on the 5.0 lets you put on a shorter one) . Oh yeah, and you don't need the stops with our transmission

Evey one is going to have there own opion. In my car i have the pro 5.0 shifter i luv it works grate all the time. I'm sure the b&m works good to they have been around for a wile and make good thing. but I was luckey to know to people one with pro 5.0 and one with b&m so i drove bouth of there cars and i like the pro 5.0 better. The that is the only way to know with one you will like better but they are bouth good shifters. Allthow on all T56 that i rebiled i recamend the the pro 5.0.
