Corvette T56 Countershaft

Does anybody know if the 97-0? T56 countershaft is the same as the 98-02 F-body T56? I've had the opurtunity to pick up used Vette T56's for cheap and if the internals are the same it would save alot of money over havin to buy all the new parts to fix the Broken T56 in my Camaro.

If its a 2.66 ratio non Z06 box, yes it should work.

A new cluster gear isn't that expensive though so it might be cheaper just to buy the gear.

No. I need the counter shaft and GM wants $1400 bucks for it...

Tremec manufactures the shaft, not GM so you're paying full dealer markup/list. Check with one of the sponsors that is a Tremec dealer.

Most countershafts are interchangeable. The 03/04 Cobra is the same as the 94-02 f-body and the 97-04 Vette (exc. Z06).
The 04-06 GTO counter and 01-04 Z06 and CTS-V counters are all the same as well. The Z06 T56 will have 025 as the last of the part number on the tag. The non-z06 will be 023 or 015
