T-56 Trans Capability
Anyway, how much power can the t56 handle with a stock, or aftermarket, clutch before it takes a ****?
Sorry for the Newb questions but I'm asking for a friend. I have always went with an auto and the only thing I know about a 6-speed is how to drive it... Thanks guys!

Are you launching on slicks or only driving it around on street tires? M/T ET Street drag radials are more violent on driveline parts than a bias ply slick.
In a full weight 3500lbs car they work to around 600rwhp before stuff starts breaking. Stock T56's have some flaws like alum 3/4 shift forks that bend, plastic parts that wear out, paper lined blocker rings that wear out, and other parts. Strength wise the stock 27 spline output shaft is usually replaced with a 30 or 31 spline shaft which makes it able to handle around 900rwhp+. Beyond that the gears themselves seem to be the weak link.
So he should be fine with H/C/I setup?
Should I have him look into the drill mod?
Rule of thumb is about 600 flywheel horsepower for your average LS1 type T56 transmission. They can survive with more and be killed with less.
