2nd gear issues under load Please Help

I am sure this is in a post somewhere else on here but its been a pain for me to fish through them. Anyway I just bought an 01z and am having problems with going into second. Not knowing much about manuals my assumption was syncros but just checking. So not running goes into gear fine running in will go in but under load going down road it is real hard like hitting a wall not always grinding but hard to go, so I just do a 1-3 shift. Am I on the right page or do I need to go into hydraulics or???

Any help would be great
