Default Suddenly hard to get into reverse

Just recently my trans developed an issue where it's very hard to get into reverse. It will go to the right into the reverse gate easily, so it's not the lockout solenoid. The hard part is pushing it forward into reverse. It takes a LOT of force, so much I feel like I'm causing some internal damage. It was completely fine, then just started doing this last week. After I get it in once, it will go in and out pretty easily. But once I move then it gets difficult again. It's difficult when it's warm or cold, engine on or off.

Trans has about 4k on it since the rebuild. It got a new reverse blocker, wave washer, keys, and springs, and I flipped the synchro. Every other gear is fine. Anyone had a similar issue? Maybe a key popped out or a spring broke or something. I did change the trans oil last week too, but I doubt they are related.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what is causing this, but I will tell you to get it fixed FAST. Mine had that same exact problem for about a month. Now it pops out of gear every time I try to put it in reverse. So on top of my original problem I now have a bent shift fork.

Because this is affecting reverse alone I would suggest taking the transmission down for examination. Issues that affect a single gear are generally related to an internal issue. You have highlighted some of the possible causes in your original post so I think you are looking in the right direction. Keep us posted and I will be happy to assist with further info if needed. Thanks,

Thanks Jeremy. Since I posted this, the issue has been hit and miss, sometimes it's easy to get into reverse, sometimes its difficult. Nonetheless it is not as easy as it was before. I'm thinking a spring or key came loose and is jamming up the reverse synchro. I just hope I didn't bend the shift fork forcing it into reverse

Understood! If something was intermitently sticking/jaming it could do this, without question. The down side is that you will have to open the trans to know for sure! Please keep me posted so I know what you find!

Check the rev, lockout noid is working, sounds like it might be locking you out, that you can get it in rev, but just take alot of force to get it over there. Your over coming to lockout noid.
check the fuses, Not sure whats stock and what you swapt for your setup (sounds cool) but I think on the 98-04 engine harness its the fuse labled for MAFF has has a few other little things running but is also fused for the rev. lockout. Had that happen on a car, you would never think that was tied into it getting into rev. But it was SD anyway.

As I mentioned in the first post, it's not the lockout. I can hear the solenoid working and it goes over to the right just fine, pushing forward into reverse is the hard part.
