SIC GTO

So for awhile I had been hearing a popping sound when I'd push the clutch in. Well finally it popped and I had no pedal, so I coasted into a parking lot. I got under there and the cable that hooks to the pedal is what popped off.
My question is what is suppose to hold that on so that it doesn't keep popping off? It's came off 3 times and i just keep putting back on...
