tailshaft interference? what am i doing wrong?
tailshaft interference? what am i doing wrong? I misread the instructions for sending my transmission to get rebuilt. I have the tail shaft bolts all out, and the tail shaft housing is off the trans case. There is about a 1/2 inch gap. I can't seem to get the housing any closer. I would take it completely off to inspect for clearance issues, but I don't have punches for the shifter pin. The locating pins are lined up, but I can't get both to touch the housing, so something is interfering. I've looked with a flashlight and found nothing. Truth be told, this is my first exposure to working with transmissions besides basic bolt ons. Any suggestions?
