02 camaro, LS7 clutch, 600hp 416. While road racing, as the car gets warmer the trans does NOT like going into 5th at the end of the straightaway. Ideas?

Here are my thoughts.
You need you feel how hard it comes out of 4th when under deceleration load.
1 Let off gas completely
2 push in clutch completely
3 push shifter out of fourth
If it comes out easy it's the 5th gear syncros. If it comes out a little harder your clutch is not disengaging completely.
Good luck

And should I get it hot like I'm tracking it, or just normal driving?
Heck, my thought was just raise the shift light to 6800, a slightly taller tire and hope I make it to 142mph and then I don't have to shift into 5th.

The trans temp does not matter for this test.
Keep in mind 5 and 6 gears are much weaker than 1 through 4.
600 hp is around the limit of the clutch. If your car is over 3500 pounds you are likely over the limit. At that point it depends on your driving technique.

Car is 3650 with me. Add another 200lbs with the passenger I seem to always have on board and according to the engine builder 625hp, with another 25hp coming to keep up with my buds 620hp lighter ACR viper...I probably am past this clutch boom point.
