Default starter depth

LS3 stroker with a Spec twin disk clutch and Spec flywheel. I find the stock starter leaves a 0.200 space between the flywheel ring gear and the starter gear. It is supposed to be 1/16". Result that the starter would only engage half the ring gear. I find the clutch/flywheel combo are for a 98-02 Camaro. I also see that the same starters are used for all LS engines. There is a different clutch/flywheel for 2010 Camaros, would that flywheel be closer to the engine and give me my correct starter depth? What am I missing???
Just pulled the flywheel off, no spacer behind it. If all starters for LS are the same, then how could this flywheel work with any year car with the LS unless in fact there are different depth starters???

How come I'm the only one answering here? I checked auto wreckers and they are 10mm from block to ring gear. Mine is 14mm. So sticks out 4mm farther. So it must be either the Spec twin flywheel or the Lunati forged 4" stroker crankshaft.
Does that ring any bells???
